Rapid Access Chest Pain
Please do not refer by post as this reduces our opportunity to respond quickly.
Appointments are made by RUH Appointments Centre.
Patients with chest pain which may be due to Coronary Artery Disease. Patients with acute chest pain should be referred to the Emergency Department.
Assessment is by a Cardiology Clinical Assistant or Nurse Specialist and an exercise ECG is done if possible. A management plan is suggested. Patients are put on the Cardiac Catheterisation waiting list if appropriate. The Consultant Cardiologists take responsibility in rotation.
Clinics are held daily.
Please do in advance:
- Full blood count
- Random glucose and cholesterol
- Calculate BMI
- 12-lead ECG
Patients should wear clothing appropriate for exercise.
A new service allowing advice on any difficult/ atypical ECG's you may encounter during General Practice Consultations. These will be reviewed by a Consultant Cardiologist and a reply send within 24hrs.
