Clinical Application
Investigation of jaundice; conjugated (direct) bilirubin is raised in hepatic and post-hepatic types. In prehepatic jaundice or hyperbilirubinaemia (eg. Gilbert's, intra-vascular haemolysis) the concentration of direct bilirubin is <25% of total bilirubin.
