Clinical Application
Measurement of iron on its own is only available for assessment of possible acute overdose in children. Refer to TOXBASE for interpretation of results in acute poisoning.
Iron is measured in conjunction with transferrin to calculate transferrin saturation (TSAT, please refer to transferrin saturation page for further information).
