Xanthochromia
(a.k.a CSF Bilirubin)

Special instructions
CSF sample MUST be protected from light. Also please note a minimum volume of 0.5 mL is required for xanthochromia analysis.
Please confirm timing (sample must be taken >12h after suspected SAH) & a negative CT scan has been obtained.
Please send CSF sample number 2 to biochemistry (samples 1 & 3 to microbiology).
SST blood sample for Total Protein & Bilirubin also required (request LFTs).
