Clinical Application
Please note: Chromogranin B is no longer available as part of the gut hormone profile.
The gut hormone profile is used to aid in the diagnosis of functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (fPNETs), which may occur as part of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN).
Chromogranin A is a general NET biomarker, and is more frequently elevated than other gut tests, but should only be requested where there is a strong suspicion of a NET.
