Clinical Application
An indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) for the screening of:
ANA (antinuclear antibodies) - to aid diagnosis of connective tissue or rheumatoid diseases.
AMA (antimitochondrial antibodies) - association with primary biliary cirrhosis.
ASMA (anti-smooth muscle antibodies) - association with chronic active hepatitis.
GPC (gastric parietal cell antibodies) - association with pernicious anaemia.
LKM (liver/kidney microsomal antibodies) - associated with autoimmune hepatitis, hepatitis C and hepatitis associated with autoimmune polyglandular disease type 1.
