Clinical Application
In context of SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus 2019) infection, procalcitonin >0.5 µg/L is an indicator of severe disease with possible bacterial co-infection.
Results should be interpreted in the clinical context with the aid of the of the Critical Care guideline on procalcitonin testing (see link below)
