General Cardiology
Heart disease remains the most common cause of death in the UK. Cardiology is the area of medicine dedicated to the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions. The Royal United Hospital's Cardiology department offer a full range of services to diagnose and treat people with heart problems. Our service extends from simple blood tests and heart tracings to the most complex procedures.
Patients are often referred to our consultants by their General Practitioner.
'Follow-up' patients are usually under review after a previous consultation, procedure or in-patient stay.
Patients who are referred to the cardiology department are assessed by a Consultant or occasionally by a Registrar or Senior House Officer under his supervision.
