Course Information
Overview
We run two main multidisciplinary courses, one for qualified staff and one for support staff.
Delegates on both of these courses come with varying degrees of knowledge relating to stroke, but all share an enthusiasm for wanting to improve their insight into the effects of stroke and practical skills and knowledge around stroke care and prevention.
The teaching of the course is primarily undertaken by current practicing clinicians working within the speciality of stroke.
In addition we have academics from the local universities who teach regularly on the courses and are members of the working party. See Biographies of some of our contributors.
We actively involve people with stroke and carers in the course by inviting them to help within the teaching programme. Voluntary services are represented at our interactive lunches.
In addition to the two core courses AGWS Stroke Education also run occasional study days on pertinent subjects, for example sexual health following stroke and the needs of younger stroke patients.
The course curricula are determined by the working party which meets twice per year to constantly evaluate the courses, make appropriate changes and plan future courses and study days.
