Referrals
All 66 GP Surgeries in the Royal United Hospital's catchment area are now directly linked to the Sunquest ICE order comms application enabling requests for all radiological imaging to be performed electronically. The Sunquest ICE application also enables General Practioner's to view radiological reports electronically. We would encourage this electronic form of requesting, as the benefits to both the RUH department and our PCT partners are enormous in terms of data quality, patient service and cost efficiencies. |
If you are having difficulties using this application or feel you may require additional training/support, please email the ICE team at:
As a last resort, we will continue to accept paper referrals for all imaging investigations.
Non-Medical Referrers (NMR's)
The RUH and Community Radiology Departments accept referrals from non-medical staff
(e.g. nurses, physiotherapists, etc.) under certain protocols and in line with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 [IR(ME)R]. Due to the regulations there is a robust process and training required before requesting rights can be supported and agreed.
In order to become a NMR for your work base/specialty, you will need:
- Radiation Training - please contact Medical Physics to organise (Helen Davison 01225 821280)
- An approved protocol – please email the address below for advice on setting these up
- The support of your Line Manager
- A completed agreement sheet
If you have any queries about the process, please email: ruh-tr.nmr@nhs.net
