RUH Sexual Health Clinic to move - 19 June
The Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust will move its Sexual Health Clinic from the main RUH site to the Riverside Health Centre in central Bath on 19 June 2017.
From June 19 the Clinic will share the Riverside premises in James Street West with other healthcare providers. It will be integrated with the Contraception and Sexual Health Service (CaSH) already based there to provide one joined-up sexual health service for people in BaNES, Wiltshire and Somerset. This follows a period of patient and public engagement last year.
Until June 19, both CaSH and the RUH Sexual Health Clinic will continue to operate as now. Patients should continue to attend the most appropriate place for their needs.
Dr Arnold Fernandes, Consultant at the Sexual Health Clinic, said: "People can be reassured that they will continue to be treated to the same high standard, in a confidential setting. Only the location will change."
Relocating to the Riverside Health Centre forms part of the Trust's overall Estates Redevelopment plan, as the RUH works to transform its Combe Park site and further improve services and patient experience.
The sexual health services are part of the Bath and North East Somerset Community Health and Care Services, and both parts of the service are now provided by the RUH. The space vacated by the Sexual Health Clinic will be incorporated into a new purpose-built RNHRD and Therapies Centre, scheduled to open in 2018.
The integrated sexual health service will allow people to continue to be able to use walk-in and pre-booked appointments offering free and confidential testing, treatment, contraception and advice relating to sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
