Meet your RUH Governor in Chipping Sodbury

Residents in the Chipping Sodbury area interested in their local health service are invited to meet one of the Public Governors from the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust at an afternoon event on Thursday, 28 February. The meeting will be taking place from 2:00pm - 4pm.

The Rest of England and Wales constituency meeting will be hosted by Andrew Simkins, Public Governor, at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall. Refreshments will be available from 1:30pm.

Andrew Simkins said: "I'm looking forward to meeting as many people as possible, to hear your views about our services and to share them with the Trust's Board of Directors through the Council of Governors."

Those attending will be able to hear from Howard Jones, the Trust's Interim Director of Estates and Facilities, about the major building projects - making the RUH fit for the future - that are taking shape rapidly and nearing completion.

These include the new RNHRD and Therapies Centre, which is being built close to the main entrance of the RUH. It will be an outpatient centre providing treatment, care and education for patients to recover from episodes of illness or injury, or to manage their longterm condition. It opens later in the summer.

Another significant project is the new Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Department (OMFS) in Zone C of the main hospital. This is moving from its former home in the hospital to make way for the new Cancer Centre, and is an opportunity to create a new improved facility providing a 'Centre of Excellence' for conditions of the head and neck, including cancer, in a new purpose-built environment. It opens in early April.

Brian Stables, Chairman of the Trust said: "These constituency meetings are a great way for us to meet our members and members of the public and to hear their thoughts on the services we provide. All of the feedback we gather will be taken to the next Council of Governors meeting and used to influence the RUH's priorities and future business plans.
