Critical Care

Research aims

Our critical care team works in the emergency department, intensive care and anaesthetics. We recruit people into research studies across all three areas within the hospital. These include projects based in the UK and overseas.

Our key aims for this research are:

  • improving patient care
  • improving treatment pathways and treatment options
  • improving patient quality of life
  • improving emergency department waiting times and reducing inpatient admissions
  • reducing length of stay for patients in the intensive care unit
  • improving rehabilitation and recovery times after surgery
