Trauma and Orthopaedics
Research Aims
Our research studies recruit people living with a range of orthopaedic conditions. We take a multidisciplinary approach to the set up and delivery of studies. To do this, we collaborate with other research centres and trial units across the UK.
We take part in surgical (trauma and elective) and rehabilitation studies. Surgical studies may involve:
- Comparing surgical vs conservative management
- Different surgical interventions
- Methods of immobilisation
- Weight bearing status after an operation.
Rehabilitation studies help determine the most effective delivery of physiotherapy after an injury. This ensures patients receive the best care, delivered in the most appropriate setting.
We put patients at the forefront of our practice. Our key aims are:
- To improve patient care
- To improve patient quality of life
- To help individuals return to pre-injury function.
If you are eligible to take part in our research, we will approach you at some point during your care pathway. We value our patients' time to take part in studies and help us to answer important questions.
