About the department

We provide a specialist service for patients in BANES, North and West Wiltshire and North Somerset (formerly Mendip), covering the full range of problems associated with diabetes and all endocrine conditions.

We are based at the Diabetes Centre in the RUH, but also hold diabetes clinics at Keynsham, Chippenham, Paulton, Trowbridge, Warminster, Frome and Shepton Mallet hospitals.

There are consultants, a strong team of Diabetes Specialist Nurses including inpatient liaison nurses and community-based Diabetes Specialist Nurses, a team of Endocrine Nurses and Podiatrists covering both inpatient and outpatients, as well as Psychotherapists and Dieticians.

We have close links with the Paediatric and Neonatology Departments and strive to ensure smooth transition from Children's to Adult services for Young People with diabetes and other endocrine conditions.
