Welcome
You can find us at Department C29. Please follow the signs. The department, with updated patient facilities and equipment, is part of our Fit for the Future programme, a redevelopment plan to transform our site and further improve the services we provide.
About us
Our outpatient department offers a comprehensive service relating to conditions of the face, mouth and jaws, including a routine assessment and treatment service for common oral surgical conditions.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics is unique in requiring a dual qualification in medicine and dentistry, treating conditions that require expertise from both backgrounds such as head and neck cancers, salivary gland diseases, facial disproportion, facial pain, temporomandibular joint disorders, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours of the jaws as well as numerous problems affecting the oral mucosa such as mouth ulcers and infections.
Any injuries to the face including fractures of the facial skeleton and lacerations are also treated. The combined departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics are supported by full time maxillofacial technicians.
We offer a multi-disciplinary team based approach in head and neck oncology, facial skin cancer and facial deformity and work closely with consultants in the Orthodontics, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Dermatology and Clinical Oncology departments.
