About us
Musculoskeletal and rheumatological conditions are a significant cause of disability in children and adolescents. They can affect all areas of patients' lives and those of their families. Appropriate diagnosis and early intervention is crucial in reducing the short- and long-term effects.
At our hospital we offer dedicated paediatric and adolescent rheumatology services. We aim to maintain the function and independence of any child or adolescent with rheumatic disease and musculoskeletal problems by reducing disease activity, helping to prevent any disability, and supporting them to achieve their full potential socially, educationally and psychologically.
Why choose us?
Our multidisciplinary team is led by consultant paediatric rheumatologist, Dr Valerie Rogers and includes a paediatric nurse, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists. Together they have the experience and expertise to help even the most complex cases, working with the young person and their family to help them manage their condition.
As a result of our expertise, we have become one of the accredited centres for training in paediatric rheumatology nationally. Dr Rogers and our specialist paediatric rheumatology nurse are both active members of the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology (BSPAR).
