Working for us

SuppoRTT

SuppoRTT Champions

Each employing Trust has a designated SuppoRTT Champion. Their role is to oversee the return-to-work process and support both you and your educational supervisor through this process.

It may be that your SuppoRTT Champion will liaise with the unit/department you are returning to highlight a return from the period of absence as well as suggest what additional support and enhanced supervision of the trainee may be required on their return. The reviews throughout the process should be with your educational supervisor however the SuppoRTT champion will be on hand to offer additional guidance and support.

Meet your SuppoRTT Champion

At the RUH we are very fortunate to have Dr Gurjit Chohan and Emma Clements making up the team.

Gurjit Chohan

Dr Gurjit Chohan

I am Gurjit a Consultant Neurologist working at the Royal United Hospital Bath.

I am an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for IMT and Foundation trainees and I am also Joint College Tutor.

Emma Clements

Emma Clements

My main role at the RUH is as Deputy Medical Education Manager. In that capacity the first you will normally hear from me is a couple of weeks before you start or return to the RUH confirming your induction arrangements. I also support the Postgraduate Executive team in delivering many events and initiatives including supporting Gurjit with arrangements for our Doctors Returning to Training (RTT).

I really enjoy the RTT aspect of my role as it links in neatly with my Deputy Medical Education Manager role where I'm very aware of who is arriving and leaving the Trust but it adds a different dimension in helping our Doctors in Training at important stages of their lives and careers on a more individual needs basis.

I also work closely with Professor Jay Suntharalingam who is our Trust Clinical Leadership Mentor. We proactively seek ways for our Doctors in Training to get involved with leadership opportunities such as becoming an active part of a committee, promoting shadowing opportunities with senior leaders, the offer of 1-to-1 career support. There is an excellent and well attended Leadership Day, usually held in April each year, for all grades of Doctors in Training so please keep a look out for details nearer the time.

If there's anything I can do to help you with induction arrangements, returning to work, leadership opportunities or anything else please always feel very welcome to get in touch via ruh-tr.supporttchampion@nhs.net

Less than Full Time Champion

My role is to help and support LTFT trainees, to advise and signpost you as necessary and to make sure you have the same high quality training as your full-time colleagues. I am easily accessible so please do get in touch at any point if you need help.

Guardian of Safe Working

If you are unsure who to contact then please in the first instance get in touch with the SuppoRTT champion or see the following document with an up-to-date list of specialty tutors for each department.
