SuppoRTT
Welcome to the Royal United Hospital's Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) page
SuppoRTT is a national programme which was designed to improve the experience for all postgraduate doctors who have been out of training for a period of 3 months or more.
Many doctors take time out of training, and this can vary in both reason as well as duration. Reasons for absence can include parental leave, OOPs (experience, research etc), career breaks, carer's leave and sickness.
We understand that returning to training can be a challenging and stressful time for our trainees. We want to acknowledge those difficulties and reassure you that you are not alone. At any time, 10% of the 50,000 trainee doctors are on an approved time out of training. Together with NHS England, your School and the Southwest Deanery, we are here to support and guide you through this process.
This short video outlines the SuppoRTT programme and what it has to offer:
What staff are saying about SuppoRTT
"The return to work team at RUH made contact with me several months before I was due to start back at work, towards the end of my maternity leave. This definitely eased some of the worry about returning as I felt the hospital knew I'd been off, and I was told about all the support on offer - such as supernumery days and 1 on 1 teaching.
"It was also great to know who to turn to if I did have any issues once I was back. So a big thank you for making the daunting prospect of returning to work easier!"
