Lettuce introduce you to something new at the RUH!

The Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath NHS Foundation Trust has teamed up with local grocer Dean Cooper, from Wild About Fruit and Veg, to provide a fresh produce stall at the hospital's Weston site.

Located outside the Brownsword Therapies Centre, Dean and his team have an amazing range of fresh fruit and vegetables for sale, from the familiar carrots, potatoes and strawberries through to more unusual items such as dragon fruit.

The stall is on site every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 10am to 3pm, and is already proving popular with staff and visitors.

Barry Fennell, Senior Catering Lead at the RUH, said: "Staff told us they would love to be able to pick up a few essentials during their busy day. As a hospital we are all about supporting healthy choices, so I'm delighted we've been able to work with Dean to bring fruit and veg right to our doorstep.

"The stall is open to all, you don't have to work here or be a patient at the RUH, anyone from the local community is welcome to pop by for some lovely fresh produce. I know Dean and his team have lots of ideas in the pipeline, starting with fruit baskets which would make great gifts for patients."

The fruit and vegetable stall is the latest addition to the RUH to provide patients, visitors and staff with more food and drink choices when they are at the hospital.

The well-established Friends of the RUH Café, Lansdown Restaurant and Oasis Café continue to provide hot and cold meals, drinks and snacks to eat in or take away.

The well stocked Friends of the RUH shop at the main entrance offers cupboard essentials such as tea and coffee and tinned goods alongside sandwiches, newspapers and magazines and toiletries.

Two new coffee carts have also taken up residence at the RUH site in the last year. Swift Coffee can be found outside the Princess Anne Wing entrance, where Barista Brian serves hot drinks, cakes and more to a very appreciative crowd.

Meanwhile outside the Dyson Cancer Centre, Elodie sells a tempting range of drinks and treats from her cosy coffee cart, Little Pink Door.

Barry said: "We are lucky the RUH is situated in such a lovely location, surrounded by views of the beautiful Cotswold Way. It does mean some of our buildings are spread out across a large area, so it's great that we can now provide handier options for those visiting maternity services, our Emergency Department or the Dyson Cancer Centre."

The RUH also hosts a monthly Foodie Fayre, featuring vendors from across the area offering a range of street food options – recent stalls have included authentic Caribbean, Sri Lankan, Japanese and Greek dishes.
