A&E

Going home

When you are discharged from the A&E, you are given advice about follow-up care. This may include: Instruction sheets, drugs & prescriptions, appointments for further tests or Outpatient appointments

We can provide information regarding public transport services to the hospital, out of hoursĀ  relatives may be required to help transport patients home or our reception staff can assist with patients who wish to call taxis.

As with the rest of the country there is very limited hospital transport for patients and this includes those who have been brought to hospital by ambulance - there are simply not enough vehicles to attend all the 999 calls and then transport those patients home. It is therefore the responsibility of patients to be able to get themselves home.
