About Us

The Optometry department provides a range of specialist hospital optometry services including contact lens, low vision and refraction, as well as extended roles within the glaucoma and medical retina services.

Our team consists of 7 full-time and part-time optometrists and 6 optometry technicians who provide diagnostic services for the department.

We work alongside the doctors, nursing and orthoptic teams within the Eye Clinic. Some of the optometrists are qualified as independent prescribers.

Optometrists are trained in the specifics of how eyes focus and diagnosing and treating pathology of the eye.
