What have we spent the donations on?
Together with the clinicians on the Eye Unit, we ensure that we use the money raised to enhance patient care in the Ophthalmology department. This can be in the form of equipment or staff courses and qualifications. Over the years this has made a huge difference to the way we work and the care we can provide.
In the last couple of years, the donations have made a real difference.
This is how we have used the funds:
- A significant amount of the funds have gone towards several training courses and qualifications to train and retain our clinicians
- We have bought a new Pachymeter (a medical device used to measure the thickness of the eye’s cornea)
- A pair of children’s trial frames
- A new focimeter (A machine used to measure the strength of glasses)
- A training head (for training staff to learn to use the slit lamp where we can view the front and back of patient’s eyes)
- A portable slit lamp (to be able to look into the back of the eyes) for more mobile paediatric patients
- A wheelchair for use in the eye clinic
- A table and chairs for our children’s area as well as sensory bags for autistic children
