About us

Our Hand Therapy team is made up of Physiotherapists who specialise in the rehabilitation of conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow. We primarily work from the RUH Brownsword Therapies Centre, in addition to the Orthopaedic and Trauma Clinics. The team works alongside the Orthopaedic Hand Surgeons and are led by a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist.

Our role is to help guide recovery following an injury (Trauma), elective surgery or an acquired condition. We always strive for a high level of function, aiming to return to pre-injury levels of activity, utilising the latest research-based treatments. There is more detail below on the conditions we rehabilitate and treatments we offer.

We are involved in internal training, district teaching and providing advice to outlying practices. As part of this, we host an annual Hand Therapy training day, which involves teaching from our Hand Consultants.
