RUH New Staff

Staff Membership

We, as an NHS Foundation Trust hospital, encourage a culture of involvement that sees you, at the heart of service delivery, patient experience and developing our strategy through Staff Membership. We want to hear what you want to achieve and what may be making that difficult. This includes things we can modify to become more effective, or things that need to change altogether.

By becoming a staff member you can become more involved in shaping our services by owning your work and looking out for improvements into the way we deliver care. We have 5 Staff Governors who represent your views and share them with the wider Council of Governors and Board of Directors. They also have a duty to hold our Non-Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Board of Directors.

What are the benefits of Staff Membership?

Staff Membership is completely free and provides you with the opportunity to:

  • Help the Trust improve services for patients and staff by having your say and providing your feedback
  • Be involved in and consulted on changes and improvements to services
  • Stand for election as a Staff Governor
  • Choose who represents you as Staff Governor by voting during the elections

How do I become a Staff Member?

When you join the Royal United Hospital you will automatically be opted into staff membership if you are on either of the following contracts:

  • Permanent
  • A fixed term of at least 12 months

If you are going to be employed on a bank, honorary or fixed term contract that is less than 12 months you will be invited to become a public member. You can sign up to become a public member at any time via the following link:
