Staying in Hospital

Improving your privacy

The NHS is dedicated to providing every patient with same-sex accommodation, helping to safeguard their privacy and dignity often when they are at their most vulnerable. We are committed to increasing your privacy and improving your dignity during a stay with us. The Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is compliant with the requirements to deliver same sex accommodation because we delivering our services using the principles of good practice.

We have already increased the number of same sex bathrooms and toilet areas on a number of wards as well as providing more same sex sleeping areas.

The next stage will see improvements to Victoria Annex, William Budd ward, Hamilton ward and Neurology to ensure they are compliant with the Same Sex Accommodation standards. We have further plans to ensure that by April 2010 none of our patients share sleeping, bathroom or toilet facilities with members of the opposite sex.
