RUH Redevelopment Plan
Decant Ward
A major five-year improvement and maintenance project began on 1 May 2019 to allow us to undertake essential work on 16 wards across the hospital.
A temporary modular building - known as the decant ward - has been completed and the Surgical Admissions Unit became be the first ward to move in.
The decant ward is built to a very high standard and offers all the facilities found in a modern hospital ward. Patients, their families and carers can be reassured that they will receive the same dedicated care and treatment, provided by the same teams, in the new ward.
The building covers 900 square metres and can accommodate 27 beds in total. There are three wards, with eight, seven and six beds and six single patient rooms.
